JimS Kitfox IV

Model IV started life with a 582 up front and trailered to the airport for 8 years. Finally realised my dream and built a house and hanger/workshop in the country with a 1800' grass strip. Upgraded to a 912UL and now cruise 15 mph faster on 1.5 gallons LESS per hour. Wheel penetration skis go on in the winter so the fun never stops.
  1. Take cover!
  2. some wispy snow trailing off of the skis
  3. Fantastic day to fly
  4. probably some of the best snow conditions I've ever flown in!
  5. I stepped out here and was up to my knees!
  6. back taxing
  7. still going
  8. the turn around- forward stick and full rudder and aileron to turn
  9. Lets put the power to it!
  10. and we're off..
  11. A little more detail.
  12. Simple but it works well.
  13. The inner side of the ski.The axle attach bolt was moved so the shoulder bolt holding the ski on could thread in.
  14. The tail ski doesn't steer but the tail wheel sticking below is enough to turn the plane.Front mount is able to pivot back when a load is on the tail...
  15. Wheel penetration skis. Tires stick thru about 1/2 - 3/4 inch
  16. Uses the same extended axle that sticks thru the dust cap and is the mounting point for the wheel pants.
  17. Talk about a VIEW !
  18. Setteled in cruisin'
  19. Above the scattered layer in the SMOOTH !
  20. OH YAAA! 115 mph on 3.5 gph.
  21. Stock Kitfox interior.
  22. It's Me.
  23. Removable wingtips.
  24. Radiator flap to keep temps up in the winter or on long descents.
  25. Fresh air intake on pilot side. Installed after first trip to Sun-N-Fun. Yes, it got warm!
  26. I always liked the Citabria paint sceme.
  27. Velcroed access cover over the header tank.
  28. A partial IFR panel plus GPS. Enough to save the day if you stumble into clouds.
  29. This is how I faired the fairing.
  30. Business end.
  31. Fairing on tail gap.
  32. Start er' up and lets go flying!
