Hey John -
Just re-read your entire build. So many nuggets of info and solutions to issues. I have already used your lift strut closeout and I am sure to use a few more. I sure do admire your workmanship. I'm no machinist nor do I have the equipment but one can strive for excellence no matter where you are with respect to tools or skills.
I can relate to spending way to much time on little things but as you say "I just can't help myself!"

That's a great wall hanger photo for your kids right there. Great to see marriages that last in this day and age. I hope Susan and me make it, 31 and counting.....

Got to love pics like that!!! With smiles like that Santa has issues trying to decide "Naughty or nice". As it should be. Figuring out how to get her in the aircraft just shows your priorities are in the right place.
Happy New Year John.

Wonderful that she was able to fly with you. Hope this is the first of many.

That's such a great story John. Thanks for sharing. 49 years. That's inspiring!! Glad you were able to figure a way to get her back in the plane with you. Here's to many more flights and smiles like that one.

John , I can see why Vicki loves to fly with you , as I have seen the high quality of your work firsthand when you flew to OSH, and after 49 years of marriage , she obviously knows how conscientious you are . Amazed at that list of places you took your Thorpe, certainly wasn't a hangar queen. Bruce N199CL
DesertFox4 - any chance of moving this thread into the "Member's Build Logs" category? Seems like it should be there, but it's up to you of course.
I finished building my own copy of the "Tail-Mate" tailwheel hoist yesterday. Worked on it during a big blizzard we had here... couldn't do much else anyway! I had hoped to find one for sale, but since I had most of the material already I decided to "do-it-myself". At the ripe young age of 72, bending forward to lift the 59 pounds that mine weighs just isn't much fun anymore. This is much better -
