Do your own covering or not
Hi guys,
I bought an unfinished S5 TD. After reading what was involved with the Poly covering system I was leaning towards Oratex so I could eliminate all the spraying.
Then I found a local resource - Steve's Aircraft here in Southern Oregon.
Steve Panokin and his son Brian are fixed gear, single engine specialists!
I asked Steve how soon he could get to my plane and he said he had a Pacer restoration and a Super Cub ahead of me so it would be March soonest- bummer. Then I asked if he could fit in my fuselage so I could go on and they could do the wings and tail feathers later this year.
They did the fuselage - finished in two colors. Spectacular job!
So there is another option for those of you who don't want to cover.
They do Poly-Fiber or Stewarts - your choice.
What did they charge me for the fuselage? Let me just say I was very happy.

Re: Do your own covering or not
To each his own, but I would say you missed out on a real fun part of a build or rebuild. Covering with Poly fiber is real easy if you follow what it says in their instruction manual. I can't comment on other's systems, as I've only done it with poly fiber. (twice so far) That's just my opinion, and I realize some people would rather fly than build. Glad you are happy with the way you're going. Oh ya, we want pictures :-) Jim Chuk
