BRS recommends a certain thickness to ensure that the rocket can penetrate without issue. Obviously it depends on what you have. For me, I plan on cutting a hole and replacing with a very lightweight piece of fabric.
Hate to see anyone go through the trouble of having a BRS, then need it, and it doesn't deploy right. That would be worse than not having one at all.

Jason ..you can perferate an "X" where the rocket ends up pointing with a perferating wheel ..looks like a pizza cutter but has teeth,.it's allot simpler way of preparing the deployment area and you have no evidience of it from the exterior when the finish coat of paint is on ....
check your hobby store ,,thinking I see them in there.
