loctite Hysol
Hello all
Is there an alternative for Loctite Hysol 9460?
This glue is not available in the Netherlands.
Or does a European builder know a source?
I have read some articles from people who used 3M 2216.
Anyone experience with this ?

Re: loctite Hysol
The Scotchweld 2216 was supplied with the early Kitfox kits. I have some that is at least 25 years old that I still use. Not on something I'm trusting my life on, although it seems to be just as good as the cans I bought last year. Hysol is nice in that it's a 1 to 1 mix ratio. 2216 is 2 to 3 by volume or 5 to7 by weight. I bought a postal scale off ebay for about $12. and mix by weight. Add about 1/2 of what you want in one plastic cup, weight it, do a bit of math and you know how heavy the second cup should be. Mix and there you go. Jim Chuk
PS need to correct something. Not a postal scale, but a jewelry scale. Something that will weigh in grams. 500 grams = about 8.5 oz. I'm usually mixing up 50-100 grams or so

Hi Eric,
we used the both components

L 9461 1000GR LOCTITE 36680 HYSOL
They are available in Europe.

Re: loctite Hysol
I have contacted Loctite Netherlands and they say that they don"t have a repace product for the 9460.
The nearest strong glue is the Hysol 3423 but that has only 75 % of the strenght of 9460
I go for the 3 m 2216.
Do You use a primer or use it on the bare aluminium spars?
Eric
