Went to a friend's farm the other evening.
Short airfield. One way in and one way out. 4000 ft and 30 degrees Celsius.

When the flying group was most active, we tended to want to see things up close. That is, unless things seemed a little more tense. These three videos are from the group flight heyday, the first has two short segments of the former style - Flying the Humbolt river down stream from the Rye Patch Dam near Winnemucca, Nevada and flying the Snake River at it passes up through Hell's Canyon in Idaho with a landing at Doug Bar.

One of the tributaries of the Snake River is the Owyhee River. It is strikingly beautiful in part of its course as it has carved a deep canyon reminiscent of the Grand Canyon, but in a much smaller scale and without the vibrant colors. The Owyhee crosses three states, Nevada, SE Oregon and Idaho

This video was taken during a trip to Oshkosh in 2004. The first segment shows a weather condition we encountered while flying toward Kalispell, Montana - Note our altitude. The second segment is over the Missouri River in South Dakota. Both segments were adrenaline boosters for the respective pilots.

Great footage. I especially like that Owyhee gorge. That would be fun.

    Great footage Lowell.

Is that Rye Patch dam burst?
If so, when did it happen and what was the impact down stream?

I see a large amount of silt too. I suppose any dam in those arid parts will have that kind of build up?

@ KF Fan: That picture is on my taxi-way. The Rams are Dohne Merino Breed for wool and secondary use is fat lamb production. The breed was developed locally in Stutterheim from German Merino and Merino breeds. Those rams are in repose. They do their thing in June for lambing in November.

    Kind regards
    Reid

Thanks for the reply. We had a small farm some years ago. I always thought Merino sheep would have been a good fit.

Well. Here in Iceland is kind a off season now and the time is used to do the check on my Kitfox.
Here I will put in four videos of it where I fly. Th first one is from our club airstrip in Iceland. It was shoot early 2013 when we got unexpected chopper to visit us.
    https://youtu.be/AkLKL9lLf3c

The next one is taken from my KitFox when I flew around our airstrip in Mars 2013. On sunny day it can be a little bumpy ride flying over that lava we have there all around.

Next is Kitfox takeoff at Sléttan. Like you can hear then is the engine not running smooth but it has been fixed now. That is my baby.

And the last one is when My Foxy Kit landed at Kerlingafjöll in the Icelandic wilderness.

    Hopefully you like those videos.

Nice! My wife used to get fuel in Keflavik a couple times a month and always wanted to explore there. We are planning on heading there in the next 12 months or so. Maybe we can grab a beer.

Just let me know Esser and I would like to grab some beer with you and give you few hints what to explore her in Iceland. And of course check out the airstrip Sléttan that we have for our ultralight aircraft. If your wife has been here anytime last 20 years she might have seen the airstrip from above (It is not the old airport that is close to Keflavik airport.)
