    It's a bit of a long story. The Reader's Digest version is that the engineering of the mounts for items like the oil cooler was lacking, which resulted in an oil-covered dead-stick landing, and some other problems. The final straw was the engine acting as if it were seized after an overnight stop during a cross country flight far from home. Nate had to airline home and retrieve the airplane with truck and trailer.

    An update. My Verizon phone doesn't work in SW Alaska but I just got a text from the owner of the plane. The problem turned out to be a loose pin in a connector for Lane B. It has been fixed by STOL Creek, which (news to me) is in Whitewater, KS - almost within gliding distance from where we put the plane in a hangar! How convenient is that?
