I mowed a 1500 foot strip and filmed a 360 degree view. It is going to be one way in and one way out. Over the hill at 0:06 It has quite a steep gradient towards the North West - (0:35)
My 7.00 x 6 's are asking me to do a bit of hoe work to fill in the bigger spring hare holes (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5IlccuattOk) and an ant bear hole or two (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L9363GX97bA), but I think it is going to be fun.
Now for a couple of sleeping shelters and a few friends to come and play.

You can see we are in our dry winter months, but what you can't hear is the strong June wind - Icy!

Thanks for the feedback so far, all.
    Regards
    Reid

Default Crossing the Simpson Desert Australia

Here's a short video crossing the 220nm across the Simpson and its 1100 sand dunes. WE followed a track called the French Line and thought we might see one or two vehicles - but we came across this convoy of about 15 vehicles in the Variety Charity Bush Bash!

    https://youtu.be/hOCXlK7GF5k

The chart looks interesting with the predominant features being the sand dunes!

    cheers

    Default Landing on centre line!

Not often that we land on sealed strips so Gayle wanted a pic of the tire and the centre line on touch down - I didn't think I could do it but lucked out! It was a good challenge and practice in judging where the right tire is.

This was a t Broken Hill.

    Default Landing on Beach

Another landing clip. I am relatively new to beach landings and certainly no expert, but I have learned to be extremely cautious. It is important to be sure of the how firm the sand is before committing to land. In this case I was lucky to have a mate there on a yacht and he walk the length of the beach and checked it was firm. It is possible to get a good idea of firmness through a touch and go, but beware that conditions are rarely consistent on a beach over the full length. On this video (which is a little blurred) you can see that the right wheel hit some softer sand shortly after touch down and I had to be quick on the rudder to compensate (my fault for touching down 10 m earlier than my mate marked out!). I know this is no different to a lot of off-field landings but I thought it worth noting for those considering beach landings. The sand often looks smooth and even - caution always and 'ground truthing' is a real plus!

That said, beaches are great places to play!
    cheers

Great vids Ross, I yearn for the day I can land on the beach. Growing up in a beach town, I always thought it would be the best way to arrive.

    Thats just bull**** Chuck!

Well, after getting a little excited by partial sunshine yesterday, today dawned a perfect bluebird day. So I went u skiing this morning and the came home and got the plane out and did it from above! I know we don't have 'real' mountains here but they do give us plenty of skiing and good flying!
Here are a few photos of my one hour local flight today.

Take off from Mt Beauty and spiral climb to 7000ft brings you here -This Falls Creek ski area- the water is used for Hydro electricity production
