The issue that some are trying to resolve with the Grove Aluminum gear is springbuck. The gear absorb the impact of imperfect landings. The problem is when trying to land very short if you drop it on the gear it will bounce you back in the air some. Adding monkey motion at the end of the gear will not the springbuck unless you dampen the gear itself, which defeats the design of this design... and adds weight. Cabana gear that use bungees or springs will also exhibit this trait. That is why Monster Shocks are used to dampen the springbuck effect.
