Budget LED landing light
I recently replaced my Halogen landing light with a LED landing light and so far it looks like it is going to work well. I don't fly at night but the LED light is good and bright and is more for recognition. I also hooked up a flasher circuit so I can make it flash and be more visible. The light was $62.99 from Truck and Winch on Ebay. The original Halogen light came as a kit that was available years ago but a person could fabricate all that came in the kit pretty easily. Huge difference in amount of power. The LED draws 1.6 amps and is brighter than the halogen. Not to mention, alot cheaper than other aiplane LED landing lights that are available.

Where did you get the lens for the wingtip?

Re: Budget LED landing light
I made the lens with Home Depot Lexan and a heat gun. I painted a 3/4" black edge on the inside to hide the aluminum flat stock and the riveted nut plates. When you heat the lexan, you can really mold it to whatever shape you want.
