Default KF5 Boot cowl trim questions

V7 912 firewall forward. Working on boot cowl install. Have it installed, aligned and clamped per instructions. Two questions:

    1. What exactly is the “joggled” edge I’m supposed to trim the trailing edge too?

    2. Does trimming approximately 2 inches from the trailing edge sound about right?

    Thanks!

Default Re: KF5 Boot cowl trim questions

    Hi Tim
The joggled edge references the recesses the the fiberglass sets down into. In the case of the boot cowl, the trailing edge will need to be trimmed at the aft edge of the steel that the wind screen gets tucked in behind. The joggle on the leading edge is the recess lip that the trailing edges of the top and bottom engine cowls will need to be trimmed to fit into. The boot cowl has to be trimmed at the trailing edge in front of where the door and its pelxiglass will be able to close. Hope that makes sense
