    Default 582 water temperature management

I’ve never operated a water cooled two stroke engine.
After reading about “cold seizures” I’m concerned about maintaining proper block/water temps in descent. I am in the frozen North and will want to be well versed before the weather gets cool. Heck, I don’t want to hurt my engine now in 90 degree flying wx!

Make sure to use a thermostat in the engine. Especially when it gets cooler out. JImChuk

    A 150 degree tstat?
    It’s a grey head 582.

I’m seeing water temps going as low as 130 on landing and am warming back up before take off. Is that OK?

Probably a 150 would be fine. For some reason, I'm thinking a stock Rotax one was 135. Do you know for sure you don't have one in there now? JImChuk

I believe there is one but honestly don’t know for sure.

IIRC, mine is 160 degree OMC thermostat. 130 seems pretty low, you’re supposed to have at least 150 before applying full power.
