What water temp probe do you use on a 912?

Most stock 912 engines do not have a coolant temp probe provision. The coolant temp is measured as a function of the cylinder head temp probes.

The older engines measuring the temp of the head casting and the newest engines this probe is now wet in the coolant.

My 1992 era 912 has a coolant temp probe in the spider on top of the engine. It gets the temp after the coolant has left the heads on their way to the fill cap the radiator.

I used this fitting from LEAF inserted in the hose between the engine and radiator and used the same sender as the cylinder head temps.
I don't think I would do this again as the coolant temp. matches the head temp within a degree or two (I have the newer heads where the senders are in coolant instead of metal.)
At the time Rotax said you had to monitor coolant temp if you used conventional anti-freeze, but now I think they have deleted that requirement if you have the newer heads.
