Default Early 80 hp oil tank

Having just purchased a mk4 1200 80 hp I am in the process of replacing dodgy hoses etc.
The oil tank is an early one with one hose on top and one in the side,is there any good reason to change to the latter type.
The dipstick has been changed to the raised oil level, this current systym has worked for over 1000 hrs, should I leave well enough alone.

I have the same design and has performed just fine for 850 hours now. I also just replaced all engine hoses this summer.

I've got two of the old ones. They work just fine.

Just remember the line in the cover is the oil pickup the the line gong into the side of the tank is the return.

The dipstick was changed to change (increase) the amount of oil in the tank.

The old dipstick is round in the top, the new is square.

    Paul,

Or.........since the Service bulletin clearly provides the measurements......wouldn't take much to dimple the old dipstick with a center punch so it could be used for the "new" oil levels.
