Hi,
I have on my 912Ul an EGT reading of 1500° and sometimes a little more.
I found out when i turn on the carb heat, the EGT decreases a bit.
any recommendations or experiences?
Cheers

Reading seems high, could be the sensor or the gage. Temperature should go down with carb heat.
I checked the spark plug and they looked good!
Moin!
Limits of Operation 912 are 900°C/1650°C, 1500°F looks well.
During pulling the carb heat, the carb's gets warm air, therefore
less airtight, less Oxygen molecules than before and the egt will decrease.

Over the years there have been comments as to how probe placement can affect EGT readings. As I recall, too close can result in higher readings. A quick search suggests that 100 mm from the flange is about right.
(3.937" for those of us who are metric challenged)
If you haven't seen this it is worth a read (at least I found it informative)

That's me. If I had had a calculator in my school days rather than a slide rule and a book of log tables I wouldn't have wasted my life being a dentist.
Regarding Dorsal's post. I seem to recall that article and often think of the other implications regarding what might be information overload with everything that is revealed with the typical glass panels available today.
I guess I will have to reconsider my lament. I suppose my slide rule was close enough as was the EGT in my Cessna 170B
