    Lightbulb Battery Weight

Has anybody tried one of those new lithium batteries for cars & motorcycles to reduce weight?

Yes I have the aerovotz lithium battery sold as an option by Kitfox and it saves about 10 lbs of weight. I understand they now sell a different brand with built-in cell balancing circuitry.

I bought one for my plane, didn't trust it quite yet so I thought I would run it in my lawnmower for a couple years, been a year and a half now, no fires and starts good yet.

I have one of the new EarthX batteries that Kitfox are now fitting - it is Lithium Ion Phosphate and has built in cell management to overcome under and over charge of cells. Good website and great customer service.

And Kitfox sell them and a custom battery tray for them.

Time will tell if they live up to their claims of 8 years!

    cheers
