anybody know why you cant use the side mount engine mount when you have 3.47 gears. It states that in service bulletin 17

That is a real head scratcher. I did some searching and there seems to be no explanation why the restriction with the 3.47:1 gear ratio.

Maybe it is a CYA deal. Having to do with they only tested it with the 3:1 gear ratio??

Maybe the ability to use a larger prop which might exert too much torque on the side mounts??
