Default Removing the Model III Wheel and Tire Assy

Quick question. I need to pull my wheel and tire assy for tire replacement. From what I can see, besides the lug nuts I also need to remove the allen screws and safety wire from the brake discs (so that they become free and stay with the caliper) or is there another option here?

That's what I do. If there's something easier, I'm not aware of it.

Remove the allen screws from the brake disc. Then pop the cover and remove the castle nut with cotter pin on the axle. The brake caliper will stay with the gear.

Another question for you. These are split rims, or do they just look like split rims and are now permanently fused? These are the original 6 bolt Douglas wheels.

When changing a tire... the rim stays as one piece? Mine won't come apart though I have not tried very hard.

The Douglass 8" ATV wheels are NOT split wheels.

The six bolts are there to hold them to the hub, not to hold halves together.
