    Default Painting Flapperon Opinions

I pretty much buttoned down my (rough) paint scheme. But I am not sure how to pain the flaperons so I would like your input. Should I paint them one solid colour such as white or orange? Or should I try to match up the lines of the top wing? What do you think will look the best?

The only thing that will change is that I now have the registration C-FOXD instead.

Looks good, my two cents would be, since you stayed with the flow of colours on the tail, I would go the same route on the front flaperons .

I agree with Gary. What I did (since I was lazy) is I designed my paint scheme such that I could paint them all one color. You can sort of see what I mean in my avatar. Your scheme looks better than mine though.

Thanks guys, my other question was for the struts. I am thinking white as the bottom of the fuselage is white. What do you think?

    Very nice!

I would move the white, grey and black out on the wing, so the end of the white lines up with the end of the flaperon. Then you could paint the flaperon solid orange without the alignment, multi-color issue on the flaperon. Since the flaperon is not in line with the wing - any line would only look right from straight above or below it - viewed from any angle and it will look off.

Also, keep in mind - I'm not sure the template includes wing tips - so the outboard edge of the wing may be further out than shown anyway.

Good idea Greg, If I can gain another 6" on the tips out won't look out of proportion.

Chase, I am adding the strut fairings.

Looks good Josh. Only other thought is to try it with the spinner orange instead of black. there is a school of thought that it makes the plane look longer.

And its good to see you are finding some things to do whilst stuck in the freezer! I look forward to seeing your regular posts again!

    cheers
