    Default Back on the job

After 8 months of inactivity we are back on the job. Got the fuselage and tail feathers painted this week.

We are using the Stewart's System. Insignia White.

Here are a couple of pictures.

Looks great, gotta love fresh white.

So, why does KF choose to locate the lift handle on the top longeron vs. the lower longeron as Avid did? Being somewhat vertically challenged I found it much easier to raise my Avid than my KF ie., just keep your arm straight and lift with your legs. Was Dan Denney freakishly tall or something?

I find the handle on the upper longeron to be MUCH more convenient for pushing and maneuvering the aircraft around the hangar. It allows this without bending over. I agree that for just lifting it may be better lower down, but lifting is a small part of what I use it for.

Tommy, i don't think i would say close. I have both wings covered and stitched and one with polybrush. Hope to start covering fuselage within a month. My plan is to be ready for paint in the fall. I don't expect completion till summer 2015. Do you have a prediction of your completion? And should i ask what kept you away for 8 months? ken

I hope to be finished this fall. I have a partner and a lot of it depends on his schedule.

I still have to paint the flaperons, cowl, wheel pants, and the many, many small parts.

I've had age related health issues, drawn out illness and death of a brother, extensive repairs to this money pit of a home we bought, etc. Plus, I've been working on a lake house I built. In other words, life has interfered with my plans. I need to slow down at 71 years of age, but can't seem to find the time. Oh, and my nearest child lives 2000 miles away.

That's probably more than you wanted to know...... :-)
