Default Changing from 582 greyhead with A gearbox to bluehead with E gearbox

    KITFOX Model II

The A type gearbox has a 72mm off set to the crankshaft.

The E type gearbox has a 80mm off set to the crankshaft.

How will this affect flight characteristics and can it be compensated for at the engine mounts? The engine mount is the later 'side bracket' type Model III.

    Thanks in advance

    8mm is about 5/16".

You'll never notice a differance. Swap 'n go flying.

The big thing you are going to notice is the added weight of the starter hanging directly off the nose. Be sure to re-do your weight and balance.

Thanks guys .. Initial tests show a little tail heavy caused by a BRS installation so the weight shift may be all good

The Kitfox2 usually had a B box ........... change to E should be positive.
-rubber doughnut that couples the crankshaft to the gearbox = less vibration
    -side mount less vibration.

I don;t think that you will have any issues other than minor fitting issues if any. E box starter adds a few pounds but should not be an issue.

    Good Luck
