Yes, that is the best advice there is. A few years ago I needed new headsets and went to Oshkosh with a semi load of cash with the intention of buying the BOSE. I figured before spending the money I would try out all the options. Glad I did! I was not as impressed with the BOSE as I was with the Lightspeed. Also, the LS was nearly half the price at that time. This was when the 20/3G (30/3G) were thier top of the line headset.
I walked out of there with the LS and have since upgraded to the Zulu. What I noticed with the BOSE was much more noise in a rag and tube plane verses a spam can. Try and use the one's you are interested in while flying whatever you normally fly.
