    Default End of covering!

Well, we did it! Another milestone reached today with the covering completed. A lot of fiddly bits around the triangular windows but we are happy with the result. Couple of coats of Polybrush on the fuselage, then the Polyspray and all is ready for the topcoats!

    cheers

Ok, so I got back from a few days away for work last night and this morning got to it and moved the fuselage into the spray booth for the the two spray coats of the Poly Brush. Fits in there nicely and I got one coat on all the fuselage this morning. That's it for today as its the AFL (Australian Football League) grand final this afternoon - it would be very un-Australian to work during that! I am watching the pre game entertainment and Tom Jones is the main act! A lot of grey hair but still pretty good! And he is performing in front of a crowd of 100,000!

Anyway, more tomorrow but for now ....Go the Sydney Swans!!!!!

    cheers

    Ross,

I cut open my triangle windows today and finished the preparation of my fuselage. I am planning on moving it to the paint booth where I work tomorrow. I'm taking a full week of vacation next week and am hoping to get the plane painted. Hopefully the temperatures cooperate. We just had a cold front pass through yesterday.

hey Phil - looks like we are neck and neck at the moment! Good work! You will surge ahead now though as I am going over the Bali for October - ordered the paint though for when I get back! HOpe your painting goes well - sounds like you are lucky to have a proper paint booth at your disposal - I look forward to seeing the result and hearing how it goes for. What colour scheme are you going with Phil?

    cheers

    Hey Ross,

Yes, I have a very nice paint booth available where I work which is really helpful. I'm painting mine in Poly Tone with Insignia white and Pontiac red. My paint arrived a week ago.

I don't know if you can read my tail # in the drawing. I am using our anniversary and initials for our registration number. It is kind of funny that our initials "PK" are the same as the letters for Indonesian registered planes.

Do you spend your time in Bali on business? I've only seen Bali from the Denpasar airport. We lived in Papua/Irian Jaya for 20 years where I flew with MAF.

phil, i may need to steal your paint scheme; substituting blue for red and yellow for black. i was also going to use our anniversary for the tail number but it appears to be taken already.

Brian is the Technical Advisor to our Builders Chapter in Melbourne.

He was telling me that he is looking forward to seeing your work and he loves the idea of the 'Airport Cam'.
I think he will be flying up from Mangalore.

He will be having a look at my work as soon as I can get a house load of furniture away from my plane . I hope the plane is still there when I shift the furniture.
I closed up a residence overseas and refused to take a low-ball offer for my contents so, I moved everything back to Aust and the stuff has pretty much taken over my garage.

I sure showed them, I think?

WEll, it was a nice time away but it is even better to get home and back tot he hanger! I spent yesterday doing the last of the Polyspray on the fuselage. So, today it is time for the first of the Polytone topcoat! I think I will start on one of the tail feathers. We are in the first stage of our summer here so conscious of the temps. Fortunately, here in the mountains we stillg et stretches of nice dry and cool weather. Photos tonight of my first efforts.

And here is a link to our new airport cam at Mt Beauty for all my OZ flyer colleagues ( and those elsewhere with long range tanks!) -

    http://avmet.ymbt.org.au/

please use the pan facility to get a 180 degree view of the strip and see the cloud levels in relation to surrounding hills. Note that the range of hills are about 4000ft and Mt Bogong is 6000ft. You will also see that there is a wind record showing current and recent wind strengths and directions.

    Until tonight!
