John, No opens in the wiring (I would have perferred that), just a dead module. Everyone I have talked to said it is unusual, but it does happen.

what does a ignition module upgrade kit consist of ? haven't heard of such a thing

The upgrade ignition kit is part #881 280 and consist of two (2) ignition modules for a little more than the price of one and includes the soft start feature.
