    Default tailcover fasteners

    Fellow builders,

How did you cope with the tailcover plates: how did you fasten'm to the fuse?
I tried Southco Gzus, but it is very hard to close them, for the backing-plate keeps turning.
I run out of creativity: a few pics would be lovely!!

    Tx in advance,

    Hans

The attachments tabs on the fuselage were hardened from the welding so I burned up about 6 drill bits drilling holes for sheet metal screws. the screws would strip when trying to force them into the hardeded tabs.

I ended up using hardware store u nuts and machine screws. Here's some fancy ones at aircraft spruce, not too expensive.

I used the kit supplied screws, but used the U shaped speed klipnuts on the tabs and all around. Worked great.

I used Tinnerman clips on the sheet metal parts and rivnuts and machine screws on the tabs.

I installed Rivnuts. They've worked out well for me.
