    Default Dow rtv 739

Where can I buy this stuff? The Dow RTV 739 that came with my kit expired 9 months ago. Is there somewhere I can buy it off the shelf? Or is it a special order item?

    1) Kitfox aircraft

    2) Auto Body Supply shops

    3) Aviation repair parts supply shops

It is not a common consumer product

As much as I like supporting Kitfox, when you have to pay 50 dollar brokerage fees on shipping its nice if you can find stuff locally.

    Esser,
Try to speak to the person when buying, and make sure of the expiration date......... I purchased my four (4) tubes, only to find out that they expired in a mere four months.... hence, I was REALLY motivated to install my new fuel tanks! (You really only need two (2) tubes to install two wing tanks. I over-purchased on this one)

    Good luck!

Yeah my kit came in late June and the tube expired in Nov. Only one tube came with the kit. Should I order a couple?

I was "quite liberal" in bedding my tanks. I used 1 & 1/2 tubes. So 2 would do it.

I guess that the important part is to get a good amount in between the spars and the tank flanges, so the tanks ride on a good layer of silicone. There is a fairly large, increasing gap as the tank moves away from the spars, which I do not think we have to completely fill. After they dried, I turned the wings over, and I put a "finishing bead" in that gap near the spar to make sure I had enough there to handle the "twist and torque."

    Esser,
    Have you tried: http://www.ellsworth.com/dow-corning...e-black-300ml/ ?

Their pricing doesn't seem too bad, but they have a $50 minimum order when you try to check out. Maybe they have something else you need?

I am 99% sure I bought mine from SkyGeek. I tried to confirm by going back through my emails but I guess I must have deleted them. I think I paid $35 ish to have three tubes shipped to me.

    Try Enco

    $11.09 with $7.95 shipping for 1 tube.

Free shipping on orders over $199.00
If you can browse the Enco catalog and not buy $200 of supplies or hardware you do not deserve the title "Tool Junkie"
