    Default Oily exhaust blow by on the 582

    Any suggestions on how to stop blow by at the slip joints on the exhaust on the rotax 582. The oily mess is is horrible

    It takes a little time but works. I used valve grinding compound from NAPA. Just spread it on the two halves and work it around. I think it took me about two hours. No issues since.

    Yup, lapping compound, elbow grease and lots of patience. I spent more than two hours and only got it to good enough. Once you've got them lapped in don't forget to apply a tiny amount of anti-seize to the joints to keep them from freezing up.
