Default Carb heat on 2 stroke Rotax

It has occurred to me that most 503 and 582 installations do not seem have have a provision for carb heat. Why is this? I just see K&N filters either in free air or under the hood. Is it needed?

While not an impossibility, experience has shown that these engines are not generally prone to carb ice and as you've observed, most installations do not have carb heat. I understand that Canada may have a requirement for carb heat to get certified.

Yep, in Canada you won't get your Certificate of Airworthiness without carb heat.

Better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it I figure.
