Fuselage bottom fabric KF SS

I wonder what others are doing with the fabric around the main gear attachments. Seems it's going to wear pretty fast here. I don't know whether to trim that area or what? Also, should the fabric just be glued on each side and none of the points where it touches the frame in the inner areas?

Tommy, On my SS I glued some doubler patches on to the rub areas with poly tak, BEFORE covering those areas. Just some added wear protection.

HI Tom,

Following placement and stretching of the fabric on the fuse bottom and sides, I placed tapes running along the lower side corners of the fuse at this point as well as tapes over the diagonal tubes going to the gear brackets/plates first.

After the tapes were polybrushed down, I cut a piece of fabric with the pinking shears about an inch larger than gear bracket/plate and applied it over each attach point (bottom and side) with polybrush in the same manner as a person would over an inspection plate ring and generously ironed the whole business smooth.

Net result is minimum of 3 layers going over the edges of the brackets/plates after the fabric is in place on the sides and bottom.

Yup...pretty much the same deal as Geowitz except that the gear brackets are different on the 7 as compared to the IV so my fabric patches are rectangular rather than round. Otherwise the same deal.

I also used the Polyfiber chafe tape on the edges of the gear attach plates before applying the fabric.
