Has anyone wired in USB ports in your plane for powering things such as ipads and desk lights? Any examples would be appreciated

I opted to just install another 12V receptacle and bought a double USB plug to plug into it. That way I had the flexibility to plug in different devices if needed....

Long Story, but yes, I have two. I wear a bluetooth unit around my neck that talks to my hearing aids. That can be charged from a USB (low amp capacity) that is mounted to the seat back. Another one with enough capacity to charge the cell phone is mounted on a tab below the panel.

We have done both and 102YB has both. Recently, we tried another direction and decided to simply use the 12V acc outlet and get a USB adaptor. Having both is nice but most likely not necessary.
Check out ths thread on the Sport Aviation Association website for inf on the USB installation.
