    Default Annual Inspection NOT Required?

I was just reading the 2012 FARAIM (I know, I know). Section 91.409 "Inspections" states the follow: "(a) Except as provided in paragraph [c] of this section, no person may operate an aircraft unless, within the preceding 12 calendar months, it has had- (1) An annual inspection ...". The paragraph [c] referred to as the exception states "Paragraphs (a)...of this section do not apply to- (1) an aircraft that carries...a current experimental certificate...".

I'm reading Annual Inspections are NOT REQUIRED for Experimental Aircraft.

Other than the initial Air Worthiness and any Major Change inspections, are there any other FAA required inspections of experimental aircraft?

They are required to have a "condition inspection" every 12 calendar months.

I do not see a Condition Inspection requirement in the FAR. Would be kind enought to educate me and provide that FAR #?

    Hello,

I am new to the Kitfox aircraft and am looking for some help finding an experienced A&P to perform the annual conditional inspection on a bird which has been sitting for quite some time. The logbook shows the last inspection was about 2000. I want someone with experience in Kitfoxs because of the length its been sitting. I am located in the Fort Worth/Dallas area if someone could please send me a reference

Check your Operating Limitations Steve. Thats where the requirement for a "Condition Inspection within the past 12 months " is called for.

If you're a member of EAA, go to this link http://www.eaavideo.org/video.aspx?v=95716958001 . Dick Koehler explains the difference between an annual inspection and a condition inspection. An A&P can do this for you.
It doesn't need to be signed off as "airworthy", just in a "safe condition".
