    Default Kitfox IV flaperon guide

Could not find this in the manual.
What is the correct name/part number for the plastic flaperon guide?
The one riveted to a hinge on the fuselage, in the turtle deck opening area?

One of these guides in my KF is cracked and I want to replace it.
Is this an original part from Skystar or is it builder-made?
And what type of "plastic"(?) is it made off?

    Thanks,

    Roberto

Here's what I have in my classic IV speedster kit...

    I think it's teflon. 6" x 3.5" x 1/8"

I assume the 54020 is the part number to order a replacement.

This part is not familiar with me, at all!!

Could you please provide me with a pic so that I can find out why I haven't build that one in, yet?

Pictures from the outside and inside. The piece is cut in half and drilled so it goes on top and bottom of the flaperon bell crank tube as a guide and support. One half rivets to a hinge attached to the fuselage and the other half rivets to the turtle deck. Third pic is of the top half before install.

The material is not teflon - it's nylon.

You can also go to your favorite local "Big Box" store's kitchen section and buy a nice little white cutting board like I did once. The material is the same and looks just like the stock part in Geowitz' photo. You can easily find them almost anywhere cheap kitchen goodies are found.

I'm not sure, but I think these little nylon goodies were discontinued in the kits altogether. Somebody may need to update me/us on this point though.

Some sort of closure near the flaperon control horn is not a bad idea If only to keep the rain out. The Kitfox has more holes than a colander.

Model 7SS does not have the cover plates as a standard part. just let the breeze come in. The plans show only a curved slot in the turtledeck. The Turtledeck on the SS is one piece Lexan so maybe a piece of smoky plastic would look better than the white cutting board stuff.
