They’re ready for replacement when the rivet heads are close to being able to touch/rub the disc. I’m not sure what the minimum thickness is for yours, but I just check them periodically and replace when they’re getting close.

Ok thanks John that's simple enough to do at inspection time.
I will make sure to note the thickness or maybe keep an old brake pad to compare when I change them. I was just wanting a gauge to hold there to compare when pre flighting so I know when I am close.
Would anyone know which pad the s7 uses?

I believe it's:
Kit - P/N: 066-111K - $58.00
Includes 4 pads and 12 rivets
Make sure you are using 65 series wheels with 31 series calipers.

Almost all brake pads that we would use on a Kitfox have a minimum thickness of 0.100". You don't want to let it get down to the rivets as that will cause grooves in the brake discs. Pads are much less expensive than discs.
It appears you aren't sure what wheels and brakes are on your plane. Obviously, you need to figure that out first. Once you figure that out go online and get the maintenance and parts manuals that you need from Grove.
Here is the main one you need: BRAKE CALIPER INSPECTION AND MAINTENANCE (groveaircraft.com)

I was surprised to find how close I got to the rivet when I had to replace the pads. One pad wears quicker than the other and it just so happens its the one you can't see as well while doing the preflight. Easy job to do so that is a plus.

Thanks everyone for the info. I will make sure which wheels and brakes I have. I assumed they were all the same on a kitfox.
