Default Can I Fly Without Cowlings?

I have completed major maintenance but it could be a few more weeks before it's warm enough to paint the cowlings and install. Would it be okay to fly the Kitfox without cowlings? It is a light squared with the 912 ULS. I will be staying in the pattern in case there are any problems. Thanks

Default Re: Can I Fly Without Cowlings?

I've never flown my 4 without a cowl.

I've run it on the ground without a cowl and I would be very worried about the turtleneck blowing up or blowing off and causing tail damage.

A 5-7 with the boot cowl may be a different story, but a 4 with the cowl extending back to the doors is very sketchy, IMO.
