How to determine a KV5 elevator vs a 7SS
Hi,
I have an early 94 Model V, the builder said he swapped the elevator with a 7 elevator. I am having a hard time verifying that and was hoping to figure a way to check.
So how can I tell if I have a 7SS elevator? Also is the 7SS elevator the same as a 7?
Thanks for the help. (If there is threads on this, I apologize I can’t find it, or my search terms suck).

Re: How to determine a KV5 elevator vs a 7SS
My Original KF 5 elevator was 14 1/2" at it's widest point. The KF 7 elevator that I bought is 17 1/2" at it's widest point.
Not sure about the differences in the 7 versus the SS. I know some had trim tabs, others have trimmable jackscrew H-stab.
My '94 KF 5 has the jackscrew h-stab and works just fine with the new KF 7 larger elevator.

Thank you so much.
You are basically measuring from the hinge line towards the tail at the large bump? Widest is throwing me off but I am overthinking this I think.
I also have the jackscrew tail so hopefully it will be an easy swap. (It’s a v tail).

Yes... From the Hinge side, to the trailing edge, just before the the cutout for the rudder. My red mark is not lined up with edges but you get the idea of the area where I measured.

Thank you so much! Yep. Not a 7 elevator for me. Time to call KF.
