Question Avid C building instructions

Hey everybody im pretty new to the board, been reading for a while and really enjoy all the great information. My wife and I reciently purchased an old Avid C kit with the Rotax 532 that is pretty much untouched and are planning on getting started building soon. My first obstical is the construction plans are very poor (1980's copy technonogy at its finest) is there any where i can get good prints and plans for the model C as well as any highly suggested upgrades to do along the way seeing as there is lots of new better designs out there now. any help is greatly appriciated
Thanks Robert

Robert you also may want to touch base with Brett the new owner of Airdale Sport Plane and Supply.

I don't want to stir too many feathers so I'll also refer you over to www.avidfoxflyers.com for Avid Questions.

Isn't the Rotax 532 kinda small for this plane?
582 or 912 a better choice?

My model 2 with a 582 still seemed to climb ok at gross, but it was on the low end of the climb scale, so I was thinking the 532 would be too small in my model 2 kitfox (and also for the Avid C too?)

Ummmmm....that must have hurt... the 532 puts out the same power as the 582 but it is not dual plug.

Thanks for the input the build manual at avidfoxflyers is the same as the one i have, i was hoping for better pics and seeing as this is such an old kit i was wondering about any good upgrades that i should do as im building from the start. i have already gotten the tail feathers from a Model IV and have started the electric trim upgrade, iv'e heard you can do a blue head 582 conversion to the 532 is this so and if so where do i find information/parts to do it? Im also wondering about the dacron, it is neatly in a roll still but from the late 1980's is it ok to use or should i just plan to replace it from the start?
Thanks Robert

If it were me, I would be calling rotax rick and seeing if he would give you anything on a trade in on the 532. Single ignition is just not my thing on these birds. I have a buddy with a model A and a 532 and that engine, for us, has been nothing but a nightmare! I flew it 9 times and 9 times it tried very hard to kill me. He sold the bird after 2 yrs of trying to get that engine to run right and not overheat.

If the dacron has been kept out of the sunlight, there should be NOTHING wrong with it.

What gear box do you have for it? One of the VERY best mods you can do is get the Avid "cub" style gear. The original narrow gear is a pain and not as forgiving. The cub gear gets rid of the bungies and gives you a much better stance.
