    Default nose gear

finished up the nose gear this evening, and I noticed that I can bearly move the front wheel, back and forth. I triple checked that the instructions were followed correctly. I could have filed the push in bearings alitttle but instructions never said too. Has anyone else had this problem, or will it turn easier once the weight of the engine etc is on it also?

Hi Phintz, I had to fit the bushings to the nose gear shaft by sanding the I.D. Of the bushings to move freely when installed with a small amount of tension on the nut and spring washers. Lubricate then tighten the nut as needed to remove any nose wheel shimmy on take off or landing. If it's to hard to pivot you will have a hard time turning the airplane on the ground. I have 50 hours on my Kitfox and the nose wheel works good so far.

If my memory serves me right, I believe Kitfox Aircraft recommends 13# of pull should be required to turn the nosewheel. Not left/right but to spin the tire. I used a fish scale to adjust mine.
