    Default Alternator?

Has anyone installed the 2nd alternator on a 912 in a Kitfox with the round cowl? Will it fit without extensive cowling modifications?

Thinking about supplementing my electrical capacity on my project plane...

For what it's worth I have a decent panel and full lighting (LEDs make all the difference) which is easily handled by the capacity of the on board alternator.
I know, not the question you asked but just in case it was useful.

My flying plane has full lighting and with the navigation lights (non-led) and taxi light on, I run out of voltage to operate the radio (Terra) at low RPM.

I'm considering an EFIS and do not want to have issues...

    Hi Larry,

I do not have the round cowl; but, here are some photos of how the aux alternator fits under the flat top cowl. The alternator fits in tighter to the engine than I thought it would. The closest part to the top cowl was the end of output lead stud. The way the alternator is built - it appears that the rear half of the housing could rotate 90 degrees either way. Fit was no problem under the flat top cowl.

In the first photo - up is to the left

    Sincerely,
