    Default New shocks

Wanted to show a new project I just finished.
Modified racing shocks to “pull type” for my Kitfox. Installed but not tested
Yet. More travel and adjustable dampening.

The shocks are QA1 monotube. Longest stroke, common for circle track racing.
The shaft is modified to include a captured snap ring. This mod eliminates the
Tension load at the valve end retaining nut and is then redundant.
The outside has a threaded sleeve to capture output end seal assy. This makes
The inside stock snap ring redundant also.
The inside spring is 1 1/2”dia. 10” long.
Assembly of the shock is quite tricky, built some special tools to get the job done. Will try to post a few more pictures.
    Having some trouble resizing?

First flight and landings uneventful. The shocks seem a bit firmer than the spring/ bunji system. Only got to do a couple normal 3 points, and one
Tail first touch, main gear drop in of about a foot. No rebound or bounce.
The days are short and the weather turned crappy. Will update when I do some more tests.

I built a tension shock based on the Bearhawk design with size change and change to allow dampening only the rebound. I Used 1.5" x 8" die spring. It works well but I do wish I had used a longer spring.
