    Default Header tank replacement

I am contemplating replacing my poly header tank in my Series 5 with the aluminum one that is sold by the factory, due to the persistent 100LL smell in my cockpit. Has anyone done this on their Series 5 or later model , and was it a remove and replace item or did you need to redo fuel lines because of tank size or port location differences. Thanks Bruce N199CL

    Bruce,

I started with the poly tank, hated it, bought an aluminum one from John M....love the aluminum header tank.

I have an early series 7.....the aluminum tank was a direct replacement except that it doesn't stink or leak.....There is always a little diddling with the cushion clamps but the fitings, fuel lines, vent and sump drain all line up with placement of the the original poly tank.

Very happy with the aluminum header tank and would never, ever consider the poly tank now.

    Sincerely,

This sounds like a good idea though I solved most of my leak issues it still weeps ever so slightly.

    Hey Bruce -

I've got the exact same issue, no leaks, no blue stains, but just the persistent
    smell. Very annoying.

    Chase,
The stuff I used is not the semi transparent blue line but black fuel hose that has a blue lining (in case there was any confusion), think it is a Goodyear product. I get no fuel odors at all in my cockpit.
