Today's the day!

Just spoken to the current owner of G-BUOL (Kitfox 3, 582 tail dragger) who is about to take off to deliver her to Enstone Airfield, Oxfordshire, UK where I will become her new sugar daddy.

Excited & nervous at the same time.

I'll then have to drive him home to pick up the trailer / hangar which she will live in.

and the fog has cleared...

Hi guys,

After a seemingly endless wait here in the UK for OK weather, time, instructor, reasonable cross wind and all the other chaff that got in the way I managed to fly my kitfox 3 with instructor this afternoon.

He was delayed so didn't arrive at 2 pm as discussed but 3 pm. I'd had a struggle getting the wing pins in amongst other things but was ready.

So feeling stressed at around 3 pm we took off for the local area to do some stalls, general handling, side slips etc. Back into the circuit for what I thought were 6 fairly average circuits and landings. Each one getting closer to sunset.

With the sun going down at 16.05 local my instructor asked if I wanted to do one alone. I thought "really, me?" and as the sun was really low I almost said no.

I chose to fly. What a circuit. It was only 12 minutes including taxi time. My landing was just surreal as I wasn't even sure the wheels were down at first.

No picture I'm afraid as 10 minutes after engine stop we entered official night.

I kind of can't believe it now. Relief, elation. So now she is back in her trailer waiting for my return to take to the sky again in my very own aircraft.

Just thought I'd share.
