    Default Baja S2 Light Install

Anybody mount a Baja S2 light on their Kitfox to be used as a landing light? I just bought a flying 7SS and the Baja S2 light came with it in the original box.
I saw on Trent Palmer’s FreedomFox Walk Around video that he has installed these lights. I’m looking for any mounting, wiring instructions and any detailed pics as well. Thanks in advance for any help.

Not the same light, but something like this might work:

I molded in a couple of studs onto which I mounted a shelf for the light attachment.

I will be mounting mine this weekend. The light will be mounted to my main gear with adel clamps. Will post pics.
On another note, I thought the 2 lights were independently controllable. Mine are not. Anyone seen an independent version?

Yep.....I installed them about 4 years ago. Love em! I aim them slightly out. Works great. You’ll love them! BTW, I use a 3 position switch....off....1 single light on....2 both lights on. These lights are very bright. They tend to be too bright when taxing near other aircraft.

THANKS for all the great ideas! I really like the Grove gear mount. You all have given me some great ideas.

Does your lighting connector have 2 or 3 pins? Mine has 2 and I don't think the lights are independently controllable.
Or is the chassis the ground???

    Jeff,
You could use the airframe as a ground but, with aircraft, it’s always better to run the ground back to “Mecca”.......the common ground. These lights are rated at 1.7 amps. Two will be 3.4 amps, so plan your circuit accordingly. Run one power line from your circuit breaker or fuse to a three position switch......which splits the power for you...and then on to the lights. This allows you to turn one on or both on, whichever you select.

Remember, the Rotax electrical power output without an alternator is about 20 amps @ 5800 rpm. So when idling, your power output will be lower....looking at your voltage indicator will give you a good idea of performance. I use only one light when taxing......voltage holds at around 13.8v. This all depends on your total system requirements....ie. radios, lights etc.

You’ll love the results.....everybody will see you coming!😀😀😎

I understand aircraft wiring. I have been doing it for over 35 yrs!
The Baja S2 I have has a 2 contact connector, one for +12 and the other for ground. Does your light have a 3 contact connector?

PS I am not running a Rotax... 😁

I miss understood.......mine has two. You were talking per unit and I was thinking you meant two light fixtures....my bad. But, that's why I installed two light fixtures.
