…and won't fit on a I-IV without extensive modifications to the FWF.

Funny you should mention dentist's office as I spent 35 years in one, but no they are small SS funnels that I slipped over some slightly flaired aluminum tubing and Hysoled in place. Another idea I saw once was a guy who put one of the small plastic fuel filters on the end of the vent tube connected to more tubing to the bottom of the firewall. He had drilled a couple of holes on the top end of the filter to provide the pressure reference.

I had problems with fuel dripping from the vent lines and onto the exhaust a lot, during particular rough starts or particular rough landings
The smell doesn't bother me, but the fear of fire got a hold of me....
So I wen't and got myself two soup ladels for 5 bucks (euro's that is overhere)

Being involved in maintenance of regular certified aircraft it cracks me up to be able to use this kind of stuff on an airplane

Have had a soup ladel on my 912 from day one 2000, hate to flaw your idea!
Works brilliantly you will need a drain pipe from the bottom down past the exhaust, also the overflow short vent pipes shouldn’t be lengthened or into any
Airflow as they control the mixture in the carb which will lean too much .
Ref carb ice! I have installed a carb temp prob and have found with the standard
Instalation, ie filter carb heat box and scat tubes with exhaust pickup shroud,
Oat 20.c carb temp 10-12c, just outside yellow arc of recommended temp.
30 Sec hot air selection carb temp. 15C or more.
Prior to fitting would wait for manifold pressure change and when applied carb heat the engine ran rough as heck for several seconds almost as if too rich,
Now after watching the temp and application of heat at 10c no roughness from engine !
Recommend twin max carb balance! You can balance your engine throughout the power range, so whatever power settings you idle/ cruise etc can be setup ,
It’s about 10-15 mins job.top cowl off, disconnect balance pipe, connect twin max to each side balance pipe, (.762 or 303 ) shell is perfect fit
    Have fun fly safe,

I cut and drilled the ladel handles to fit the carb mounting bolts, and silver-soldered a nipple for the drain hose in the bottom.
