    Default Nosewheel Tire Size

Does anyone know if the Kitfox Nosewheel gear will accept a larger tire? If so, what is the largest tire it will accept?

    Steve,

Isn't it 5 X 5.00 according to the plans? As I recall, a larger diameter tire may not clear the nosewheel trailing arm mechanism on the sides and the leading end of the caster. (I would would like to know too if a larger one would work).

Another question about nosewheel tires is should the unit be balanced? Also, what ply is recommended?

    Slot,
Yes, it's a 5.00x5. I don't know if a larger tire would work either but would like to use a 6.00x6 if I could. I don't think it would ever need to be balanced, at least the way I use it, for taxi only. I pull mine off the ground as soon as I power up for take off, then do the same, in reverse, when I land. I land on the mains (8.00x6) and hold the Nosewheel off until just before I stop or turn off the runway into a taxi lane.
