Just curious John, what are you using for a flight test plan ?. Does the EAA have a standard plan for LSA or does the FAA mandate something of theirs or do you devise your own .. ?.

The FAA has an Advisory Circular 90-89A for the initial flight test plan. I used it as a guideline for my own Phase I testing and found it very useful and helpful. I don't believe its mandatory, but is a strong recommendation and covers everything. The only thing mandatory is to fill out a couple of test results and a statement shown on your operation limitations that you get from your airworthiness inspection. It would be highly irresponsible to only do that much. I believe EAA also has some documents on the subject.

I’m planning like Jim said, David.

Is it true if you perform aerobatics in flight test you can be "legal" to do the aerobatics you demonstrated in flight test it can do? I want to be able to be legal to roll, loop my kit fox?

FYI John, at 2200 rpm idle you airplane will never land and barely descend. It will float and float for 10,000+ feet of runway. You need to bring that rpm down.

I set mine to 1400 rpm idle.

That is correct, and log it in the aircraft book.

Thanks Larry... yep, I was aware of that from reading & talking to others also. When I was up in Idaho, Paul stressed that the idle be maintained during ground operations at the higher setting to avoid extra wear & tear on the gearbox. I've set the stops lower now, but don't know how much until I run it again. I'll shoot for 1400 on that also.

Reading the post about rpm suggests I might need some advice.
Today I ran my 912 for the first time for an extended period because it is now finally in the cowl. !5 minutes at 3000rpm gave me EGT 1300, CHT (water jacket) 250, Oil Temp 200, Water temp (tube to radiator) 190, Water Press 18-20, Oil Press 50.
Curious if these are expected numbers and, based on this current discussion, am I damaging this by running a sustained rpm of 3000??

All those numbers are still in the green, Bud. You're fine.

    John,
I flew with a friend today that has a factory built SLSA SS7. Not sure if it will help but here is a picture of the rudder cable to rudder connection.
