So, back from Lakeland FL and the 2 day Building Fundamentals course put on by Sportair / EAA. I'm in the process of deciding if building an a/c is right for me. If so, KF is at the top of my list.

It certainly seems that building would be an excellent way to go, but if it turns out you don't like it, or can't manage the commitments, you've created a big mess for yourself. Reading online forums and magazines are helpful, but nothing like real hands on experience.

I'm happy to report that I completed the course with all 10 fingers intact! I found that I could indeed manage all 4 parts of the class - wood, composite, fabric, and sheet metal. That's a huge part of the decision.

So if you know of someone who has similar questions about building, I heartily recommend this class!

Bonus - got to fly in Ken's SS7 and check out his awesome trailer! The plane handled great - I wasn't sure what to expect from just flying 172's. Thanks to Bud for bringing his KF out for a look too!
