Default Did you cover your floor boards???

Three coats of varnish seems like it is thin and will wear thru quickly. What did you cover the floor with?

Don't have a photo; but, am using rubber floor mats cut to size to cover the floor where feet go. Working on 6 years and this has protected the varnish - varnish still looks good as new.

I use very thin sheet aluminum that is bonded to kraft paper (I believe it is used for heat duct manufacturing).
It slides neatly under the peddle mounting shaft and is held in place with 2 screws at the rear.
Very durable, economical, light, easy to replace and looks good.

After bleeding the brakes, I was glad the original builder left mine varnished wood. Very easy to clean up.

Last year I stripped the carpet off my floorboards, and used a brush on truck
bed liner. Looks nice, is very durable, cleans easily, and doesn't seem to show
any signs of wear. In fact I painted the steps of my workshop step stool with
it and after a couple years in the shop with almost continuous stepping on it
    shows zero signs of wear.

The stuff I used was "Herculiner". I have a 6061 Aluminum plate on the floor
where my heels rest as that area wore out pretty fast on the previous
    carpet.
