    Default G-5

Is anyone using the Garmin G-5 as a backup with the G3X or primary, how is it working out.

The G5 is amazing and incredible useful when used as the backup to the G3X. If you don’t have a dedicated AP controller, you can even use the G5 in the event the g3x were to go down. It’s an incredible accurate AHRS as well and provides all around redundancy for the lowest price.

Not sure what the intent is with a KF as I have mine in my RV6 for IFR. It may be a little overkill for a KF. Either way, it’s the easiest and cheapest method to provide redundancy in the system as it easily integrates into the CAN bus.

Thank you for your thoughts on the g5. Yes, I might be going a bit overboard on my panel but I do plan on using this plane for some longer distance traveling.
