Recommendations on spray equipment for Polyfiber

I have a small craftsmen compression. I think it's 18 gals. I don't think it's going to be adequate when it comes time to start spraying some of the polyfiber products.
My understanding is I have two choices, one is to buy a bigger compressor, and the second is to go with a HVLP turbine system.
Any recommendations?
If I go with a compressor, what size would be good.
On the flip side, if I go with a turbine set up, what's a decent system to buy without costing an arm and a leg.

I wouldnt spend the money on the turbine setup. If you use polytone it is so easy to spray the hvlp will work fine. Not sure about a minimum required compressor size. What you have might be fine. Buy a hvlp gun and do some samples.

I just looked at the Harbor Freight spray guns, and with their cheap gun it shows that it uses 6 CFM at 40 lbs pressure. They have an 8 gallon 2 HP compressor that is supposed to deliver 5.5 CFM at 40 lbs. Yours might work because of the larger volume of the tank even if it couldn't keep up if ran continuously. It doesn't take that long to spray one side of something. Then you will be stopping to turn the part or refill the gun and the compressor can refill itself. I would do like Ken says, try some samples, then the tail feathers, then the rest if it all goes well. JImChuk

I agree with the thoughts so far. I bought one of the inexpensive turbine systems for my first Kitfox build. It sat around until I painted my second Kitfox, then more sitting. Then put it out with our recent community street sale - offered free - and it is still sitting around. Maybe if it was one of the $500 units, it would have been picked up for free.

My current air compressor is a Craftsmen 4hp 18 gallon tank. 8.4scfm @40psi

Should be good then. Put a water filter in the line to the spray gun. JImChuk
