Default Looking for ideas for GPS nav

So what does everyone use for a GPS navigation?

I was thinking of an I-pad but I don't know where I would mount it.

I am partial to the Garmin Aera series. I have the 500 and really like it. It will make the transition from my model 4 to the new 7 Super Sport project.

I also have the newest Ipad Air 2 with Stratus for synthetic vision and ADS-B in traffic and weather that will go in the 7 SS on the right side of the panel. MGL's new Explorer-Lite will reside on the pilot side.
Several of my local Kitfox friends use and enjoy the Garmin 500 Aera. Easy to jump in each others aircraft and feel at home with the GPS's all the same.

I have a Nexus 7 tablet with the free Avare GPS soft ware on it. I like it. Another thing that may end up being good is with about $20 in stuff it will function as an ADS-B receiver. Reason I say may, is others have done it and my stuff is in the mail, so I can't say how well it will work from first hand experience. Jim Chuk

Where do you mount your Garmin 500?

I like the tablet idea but I don't know where I would mount something that big. I do have the Avare GPS app on my smartphone as a backup.

I've got to put a transponder in my plane so I was thinking I'd bite the bullet and get one that is ADS-B compliant.

Do you have any panel space. I bought an Airgizmos mount for an I-Pad mini for my plane.

I use an iPad Mini running ForeFlight with a Stratus for GPS and adsb-in weather, traffic and AHRS. I also link my headset to the ipad via Bluetooth for music and audible traffic and runway incursion alerts that come from Foreflight. It's a great combination. The iPad is mounted in a Ram x-mount attached to an instrument hole cover on my panel.

I love that idea for the airgizmos. Unfortunately that would mean reworking my panel.

This is what my panel looks like. I was going to install a transponder under the com. It almost looks like I could get one of those ram mounts and mount it above the radio.

I use Avare and or FLTPlan on a 10 inch Samsung Tab S and a Ram mount stuck from the roof. Works well when solo. I put the copilot to work if he doesn't want the tablet in his face!

My flying plane has an Aera 500 mounted with the oem suction cup mount right to the panel.
